uTorrent or BitTorrent: Which One is Faster?
uTorrent vs BitTorrent

uTorrent or BitTorrent

Do you have an idea what exactly torrents are doing? why their downloading speed is so fast? Why they are best to share files?

Let us understand some basic terms before jumping into the topic.

VPN(Virtual Private Network)

virtual private network (VPN) extends a private network across a public network and allows users to send and receive data across shared or public networks as if their computing devices were directly connected to the private network. Virtual Private Network plays an important role when comes to Torrenting. Torrenting is not legal everywhere and if allowed at some places then with strict laws. Torrenting is an awful crime, that may lead to arrest too!

Torrent file

A torrent file is a META INFO file, basically a computer file, that contains metadata about files and folders to be distributed.

uTorrent

uTorrent is a child client of BitTorrent. It was first introduced in 2005 and later acquired by BitTorrent in 2006.  uTorrent Client is open-source software that is one of the leading free BitTorrent Clients. Utorrent has Bing Toolbar and the paid version of uTorrent comes up with abundant premium features.

BitTorrent

BitTorrent is the best Platform to download files with no hassles. The bandwidth sharing flexibility is awesome feature the BitTorrent.

Alpha and Beta Versions of uTorrent?

Alpha is less stable and it is used for internal testing. Beta is used for external purpose. The stable version of uTorrent is the most reliable though and it also allows a percentage of errors.

How Torrenting works?

Basically, it works on Load-sharing. Torrents do not download the entire file, instead, the downloading computer knows the number of systems that have the same file or portions of it and hence they download bits and pieces from different sources. This way, the load is shared, and the risk of the main source getting down due to the many requests is eliminated.

uTorrent or BitTorrent: Interface

The look and feel of both the Torrents re nearly same and similar to operate too. Both the clients have the same parent, BitTorrent. BitTorrent came in 2001 whereas uTorrent came in 2005. BitTorrent, Inc. acquired uTorrent in December 2006. After installing both softwares you will notice two interfaces that are very identical. At first glance both the Torrenting sites seems to be the same but they are different.

How are they different?: uTorrent or BitTorrent?

Advertisements are really annoying, and if these are disturbing our work then seems to be pathetic. Isn’t it? Both the clients are not Open Source. Previously, BitTorrent runs without ads and won over uTorrent but now both show ads. Still, BitTorrent has better ad management facility. in order to get rid of these ads, you have to opt for PRO packages. These PRO packages costs around $4.95 per year.

VPN

The above mentioned PRO packages in case of Bit Torrent only removes ads but one thing in favor of uTorrent is PRO+VPN. this package is available for $69.95 per year. buying VPN additionally is an extra burden on you, so it’s better to go for this combo pack at cheapest prices. It is much necessary to have a secure connection while you are Torrenting, in order to protect your system in all ways.

SPEED

You choose Torrent over standard download because of high downloading speed. If I talk about speed, then BitTorrent wins the race because of its better ad management quality. VPN decrease downloading speed too because it makes a separate encrypted channel for all your the traffic, Incoming and Outgoing. The closer your VPN server is, the stronger the connection and the faster the speed.

Winner: BitTorrent

SIZE

Both BitTorrent and uTorrent manage Torrent clients very well. The major difference between the two is their Size with uTorrent of 1MB and BitTorrent of  3MB. Both are pretty same but still, there are some differences as mentioned above “The Size”. uTorrent has Alpha and Beta Versions while BitTorrent doesn’t have. Another significant difference is, uTorrent has alpha and beta versions, while BitTorrent does not. Stable BitTorrent versions are released a bit later than those of uTorrent.

Winner: uTorrent (if you are running of less space)

DOWNLOADS

Along with the high downloading speed, sometimes our need is simultaneous download. With BitTorrent, you can download multiple files together but with uTorrent, you can download only one file at a time. You have to pause one to download another.

Winner: BitTorrent

COMPATIBILITY

Though both the Clients, BitTorrent or uTorrent, are compatible with lots of operating systems, Microsoft Windows, Mac OSX, and Android. You may run them on your desktop computer, tablet or phones. They perform equally well across all devices and have been optimized for each operating system. In case you’re looking for a torrent client for a more obscure operating system, try Transmission. BitTorrent is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Android, but uTorrent is also available on Linux.

Winner: uTorrent

THE FINAL VERDICT

Well, friends, both the Torrenting clients are best and hold the topmost position of all others, but the main question is who is the best of two? Here BitTorrent wins the race by all above-discussed features. Whether it is uTorrent or BitTorrent, Both provide us the best features.

I hope you would like the article, share your feedback!
